Innovating Learning

Sir Ken Robinson – Bring On The Learning Revolution

Ted Talks is all about innovation, and some of their talks about the possibilities of learning are truly inspirational. Our education is so limiting and standardized that people no longer can relate to the true possibilities within themselves. The true horrors show in everyday actions completed by people who only choose to do what is expected. But what if we all did what could be? If we let our imaginations go way beyond what is known, and embrace what we dream of making real. I have a feeling that many of the problems that we are currently embroiled in would disappear like steam in the air. And reality would be stretched to its limits, which would be a great thing!

Here’s more from Sir Ken Robinson:

Linear thinking has us so programmed that we really have a hard time thinking outside of the structure that was handed to us. But if we look around, it’s easy to see that we are all different from one another. I know, I know. I’m usually talking about how we’re all the same, which we are…humans. But the beauty of humanity is that each individual has hopes and dreams that push us to see more than what’s visible to us.

The invisible can be truly mind-bending simply because it relies on our own interpretation of what the invisible can represent. I personally see invisibility as the beginning…it’s a chalkboard that is awaiting my creativity to make it into something unique based upon my own interpretations. As my interpretations will differ from the next person, they just might build upon another person’s interpretation to create something new and different that pushes the leading edge further than where it currently stands. The leading edge of possibility. The leading edge of opportunity. The leading edge of innovation. This is where our differences help to build an unimaginably inspiring world than the one created if we were by ourselves.

Watch all of these videos to see if you can take your own learning past the ordinary, so that you can be motivated to create something extraordinary that will make the world even more extraordinary.
