About

About

I am a technical communicator by trade, which means that I am one of those writers who is responsible for creating the manuals, user guides, and other forms of technical writing that tells you how to use that amazing device that you just got. The field is a diverse one with many disciplines, and I am still gaining new skill sets each day to broaden my expertise.

Like every other technical writer’s story, I fell into this career quite by accident. I’ve been working in the manufacturing arena for most of my career, having started out in the Production group where I was heavily involved with engineering documentation. From this point, it expanded with each new job description that I took over. After some time, I was amazed to find that my job actually had a title, and that I was on my way to becoming a technical communicator. But I didn’t accept this title until I felt that I had acquired sufficient knowledge and skill. But that’s a story for another time.

Needless to say, I have gone off of the deep end while working with so much data over the years that I have decided to listen to my creative voice which is desperate to see the light of day. This blog is my attempt at having a conversation with you about everything that impacts on my creative interest, including artists, vinyl art, books, music, flying, and more. I try to weave creativity into everything that I am. Feel free to contact me about things that you’ve discovered as my interests fall all over the spectrum.

I am still working as a technical communicator, so if you also have any questions about the field or if you have a project that I might be able to help with, send me a note. That part of me is going nowhere, and loves to help! I will be writing some posts about my experiences in technical communications and business, and how they’ve impacted my own brand of creativity (and vice versa). I just hope that they help others in their endeavors.

Where Am I

I live with my husband, John, in Central CA. We run a technical consultancy from here, and typically travel to our clients who are dispersed over a wide area. But I really live on my computer, like most of you, so I am most comfortable in front of a keyboard! Yes, I am the ultimate geek and try to live up to the title with pride!
