I have finally succumbed to the call of Twitterverse. Yes, I have decided to join all of you who tweet about anything and everything. Because what I’ve learned is that while I was safely hidden behind my monitor, typing away at my own content, there was a world out there that wanted to be discovered. Well, actually I already knew that. But when I learned that Twitter was a good way to get interesting info fed directly to me without getting lost in Google (which is my savior) and Net surfing, I finally decided to finally give it a shot. Yes, I can sometimes be slow and hard to convince, but I do eventually learn. My mini-social wallflower etiquette is in for a big change.
So far, there’s a lot of stuff to catch up on. I’m not sure how all of you do it, so give me a few moments until I get my legs back under me. SIGH, I knew that I should have tried this much sooner!
One more question: Will I be able to function with an iPhone permanently attached to one hand? I’m not sure that I’m ready for TweetDeck just yet.
Here’s what I already found in just the first few minutes (god, I love data mining):
- Well, first off, Jane Friedman from Writer’s Digest has forwarded a pretty interesting infographic that shows the current state of the Net, and it is pure eye candy while also being pretty informative and eye-opening. If you wanted a minute-by-minute update on what the Net is doing, well then here’s your chance to see it happening live. Click on the image below to launch the experience. And then thank Online Schools for all of the hard work! This just proves that the Net is important to civilized connectivity, and must be protected so that it remains free for all!

- Some really great quotes from GreatestQuotes by GreatMinds of Ireland: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take out breath away” – Maya Angelou, and
“Nothing is predestined: The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.” – Ralph Blum
- Big Think has put out a piece that talks about a way to help our soldiers’ hearts heal a little from the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through the destruction and reuse of their uniforms. The Combat Paper Project turns old uniforms into slurry that become sheets of paper on which to create works of art that speak of their experiences. They can use the support, so click on the link provided.
- Harry Potter is on everyone’s minds and tweets, and that is a good thing! Even if this is the end of the journey, until we delve back in from the beginning to relive it once more.
- There is seriously a lot of marketing and chatter being done on Twitter. Not sure how good that is!
Well…back to writing for me. And you should start to hear from me on Twitter once I figure out how to use it. Wish me luck, because I’m going to need it! As much as I love technology and stuff, this social networking thing is throwing me for a loop. Again, I sigh…
