Fashion That’s Gorgeous

I was going through the history of My Modern Met because I knew that I was missing a lot of amazing talent. And sure enough, I found this fashion illustrator, Laura Laine. I know that fashion illustrators have a certain flair to their style, since they are working in the fashion industry, but Laura’s work stands out to me because of that something extra.

Looking at her characters, there is definitely a joie de vivre that makes each of them simply come to life with their own unique personalities. The strength in each of them makes you want to be like them (so, yeah, she’s really good). It’s amazing to see so many different personalities still shine out though they have similar styles. Another reason why I’m drawn to her is because her illustrations makes me feel the same way as one of my most favorite Japanese mangaka does, Yazawa Ai. Take a look at the video for Paradise Kiss and tell me if you feel the same:

So go visit Laura’s site to see more of her amazing creations. And pick up a copy of one of Yazawa Ai’s books to read the magic behind that video (most have been translated into other languages). Some of her best are NANA and Paradise Kiss (they’re long series), though she’s written a ton more that are just as gorgeous.
