This image named Eros by the Spanish painter, Fran Rechaca, is sublime! After spending some more time on Zealous.co, I found this amazing artist who paints mythology, fairytales, and life with a strength that can be seen in each powerful paint stroke.
He did an interview with The Art of Man magazine (first article on page) which is very enlightening as to the struggles that he’s encountered because of his portrayals of the male figure. Honestly, I don’t know what these galleries are thinking to reject Fran’s art when it tells more of a story about humanity than any violent or objectified piece ever will. All of his paintings are simply gorgeous, and embody a spirit that connects with our own. To me, the male figure is equally beautiful in its musculature, angles, power, and strength.
Artists with true vision into their subjects are a gift to us all. That truth opens the inner dialogue from within the subject, so that it connects with our own inner dialogue into a wonderful conversation about everything beautiful. The human figure is much more than an object. It’s a reminder that we have a lot more going on under the surface that’s equally important.
