Honestly, how can you not love a moment of whimsy and humor in your day. German artist Timm Schneider had this thought in a moment of “urban intervention” when he added googly eyes onto everyday objects and brought them to life in his project, They Live. Personalities shine through these eyes which give us a glimpse into the soul of the object. Sure, you can disagree that inanimate objects don’t have a soul, but I feel they must because sometimes the most innocuous item can bring a moment of joy into our lives because we actually see them.
I love my coffee, and now I love this coffee even more because I giggled at the inquisitive stare that it’s giving me as it stares up at me in a moment of wonder. You can almost hear it thinking, “Whoa, who is this person who keeps sipping from my soul? I think she likes me, because she’s holding me so securely. Does she know that I’m so happy that she’s happy?”
– Thanks, My Modern Met, for this moment of joy! And thanks Timm for your sense of humor, because I seriously love the way you look at things.
