I was going through my tweets when I came across a link that was tweeted by @AnandWrites and @jennydeluxe which led to Intro to Narratives in Emoji 101.
What I ran into were short stories written in Emoji. It takes a bit to adjust your eyes, but the story pops right out and fills your head with the actual image of what the writer is trying to convey very clearly. Take this story about Christmas shopping –
Boy, do i relate to this story (as do we all)! You have to chuckle at the creativity that we all have in using just about anything at our disposal to build something new. Language comes in all forms, and some people won’t recognize such an amazing creation because they can’t get past the surface of that new language form. But this is how our language, all language started…with images. That they became written words specific to a region only shows the ingenuity in creating things that bind us together in familiarity. And now we’ve just taken a step back and embraced our past in a really cute and endearing way. The language of Emoji is all about emotions, and it seems to easily inspire that emotion because of the images that we relate to through our feelings.
And to see how the story went for the site creators:
Well, at least we can wish them good luck on future inspiring Emoji stories. I just love to see how this story really ends. This Tumblr is pure genius! It’s like we’re learning a new language.
