When I found out that the Time’s Person of the Year for 2011 was the protester, I was ecstatic. No, I am not an anarchist, though I’m far from pleased with the way society runs right now. But, when Time listened to the people and choose the people’s champion, it gives us all a cause to reflect. Just maybe, there is some hope for change. God knows that we need it with all that’s happening. This has been a horrific week in the US, though it hasn’t been much better in other parts of the world. But we are all reaching out to one another in hope that strength grows with numbers. Universal thought is no longer as superficial as it once was. A large number are awakening and demanding that change happens.
When a small town in China can stand up to their oppressive leaders, then you know that times are changing. When people protest during a democratic vote in Russia and force the leaders to explain themselves, you know that something wonderful is occurring. When the whole world stands up and shouts, then you know that thing’s might just be turning around. Is 2011 the beginnings of our rebirth? |

** STOP CENSORSHIP! **
Our censorship fight with the US Congress is far from over, as they continue to attempt to break the Internet with legislations driven by crony capitalism in the US and abroad. Though SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) have been pulled back for now, more continue to follow them. Now, we have to contend with ACTA (more) and TPP (2), which are international attempts to censor and control the Internet for the sake of commerce. And if that's not enough, now there's CISPA (more).
Go to EFF.org to keep up with the legal news that impacts our world and its technology. The greed won't stop, so we have to stay vigilant as well. Especially now that lobbyists are admitting out loud that they expect to be rewarded for their "contributions": Read it on TorrentFreakThanks for visiting!
