I was catching up on the business news, when I came across an inspiring piece from LA Times (through Circuitnet) talking about an effort in Albany, NY to bring manufacturing back to the United States. Alain Kaloyeros, a physics professor at the University of Albany, has worked hard to establish a partnership opportunity between some major industry leaders in manufacturing, the New York state government, and other international corporations to create a multi-billion dollar research center that will bring innovation back to this country.

Our old ways of business are not changing as fast as necessary in order to meet the specter of globalization. This story brings me some hope that someone is listening to the pleas from hard working Americans for a chance to return to our former glory days. While Corporate America and Washington have been missing the boat, at least some local governments understand that United States needs to reenter the global market as a national manufacturer and not an outsourcer.
This makes me want to push harder to make my own dreams come to reality! Thank you, Mr. Kaloyeros for bringing back a long-term beacon into our national darkness.
