How To Make A Graffiti Marker

No more spray mess. Graffiti Lovers is taking on all of the mess so that you can simply create. Unless, you want the mess, which means that you’ll have to do that all on your own in your work. Hey, that’s the beauty of creativity. One person’s mess is another person’s love. It’s all good if your creation makes someone’s day a little brighter. DesignTaxi does it again

My Guilty Pleasure Is Back – Sons Of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy is back for a new season (started on 9/6/2011), and there’s a lot of excited fans out there who’ve been waiting since last season’s cliff hanger. Well, every season has had a heinous cliff hanger, so there’s nothing unexpected there.

I honestly never thought that I would be so enraptured by a show about bikers. Sure, I’m not your typical girly-girl who loves fluffy and frills. I prefer depth to my guilty pleasures, whether they’re in book or film form. And the story line, writers, and actors on this show are simply blissful anarchy to observe. From the start, the gritty content and violence make one wonder why it’s even so popular, but it is. Of course, life is not warm and fuzzy, and this show proves it by being in-your-face brutal. But that black and blue (and red) shading is forgiven because everything about this show keeps you on your toes. Nothing is predictable, just like in real life. The entertainment industry could learn a lot from this show. Kurt Sutter is a genius!!!

If my own character creations come out even half as good as these characters, then I will consider my writing career a success. Boy, do I have my work cut out for me. Anyways, do yourself a favor and drop any prejudices (I hate saying that) that you might have about the topic. The story is that good!

Novelty Books

I just read through a post from Imprint’s, Dailly Heller, and am in love with his newest offering. Novelty books used shapes that brought a more playful experience to the reader, as they were not the typical rectangles. And inside are some of the most gorgeous images from yesteryear. I’m a huge fan of this style of line art, having collected books illustrated by Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielsen, Harry Clarke, and Edmund Dulac. As you look at the images below and check out Daily Heller, you’ll realize what I’m talking about. Absolutely breathtaking and so inspiring! Not to mention, unique.

My Kind Of Architecture

As I mentioned earlier, I do love architecture. But the kind of architecture that inspires me doesn’t have to beat some kind of world record. My kind of architecture speaks quietly through details, color, and complexity of the design. Here are a few of those that I can never look at long enough:

Mission Inn (Riverside, CA, USA)

For Us Coffee Lovers: Latte Art

Today needs to be a day for appreciating our ability to create beauty! And I seriously need a cup of coffee (espresso, please)…

I was going through my usual daily perusals on the Net, when I came across another DesignTaxi post on latte art being produced at Madcap Coffee Company. Now, honestly, how could you go wrong with coffee, latte art, and a name like that? Check out their new video inspired by what they love to do. It’s amazing to see it being done so beautifully, and with such amazing musical accompaniment.

So that made me go on a search for unique latte art, because you can never have too much of a good thing: Continue reading

Boardwalk Empire – Vintage Is Returning

Speaking of beautiful design, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority owns some trains that are the epitome of gorgeous. And it can be had for a small price if you have a film to shoot. It works great for both sides, while also letting art imitates life, as it does in the HBO show, Boardwalk Empire. The irony in life is truly mind boggling at times, isn’t it? – from a DesignTaxi post

Thought For The Day – What’s With The Elaborate Buildings?

More expansive panoramic view

So, what is with our obsession of building stupendously costly monuments at the city level of government? It seems like whenever there’s some extra money in the coffers, then it becomes necessary to “look ahead to the future” when planning for government buildings. Why is that? Especially when we’re smack in the middle of a worldwide recession, and should be investing in something more smarter than a building that won’t even be used to its fullest capacity for years. How can it when governments are laying off the people who would work in these monuments to our local government’s splendor? Why isn’t the money being used to invest in innovations that will build other potential opportunities that will help more than just those people who use these buildings? Continue reading

Thought For The Day: Who I Am

I am a child of this world.

In my blood runs the legacy of so many before me.

Their experiences are the little shivers that my soul feels

when I reach a place of memory.

Who I am is but one in an ocean of many

All reaching out to touch infinity.

Our dreams inspire,

While our souls conspire,

To bring them to our desire.

All of the beauty

And all of the ugly

Mesh together

To simply become Me.

I am a child of this world who simply seeks

To become more than who I am

Better than I can be.

And so I keep seeing from within me…
