Another Tribute to Japan

We’ve all been following the horrific news from Japan. I’ve been lucky because my family, who live in Yokohama, were out of harm’s way. But it is hard to watch the news and see the continued suffering that these wonderful people have to endure.

Artists from around the world have been launching campaigns to help the people find some comfort in an uncertain future. I wanted to bring up the Monsters and Misfits gallery showing by Circus Posterus. Although this showing had been planned for months before the tragedy, Brandt Peters, Kathie Olivas, and Chris Ryniak had to carefully consider to move forward with the venture. Once they decided to make this a benefit show, Tomonosuke Syoten put together a beautiful showcasing of some of their latest creations. Here are some links about the show:

A Few Words About Technical Communications

This seemed like a good place to continue, as this is who I am. I’ve been working as a technical communicator before I even knew of the title. Like most technical writers, I fell into the job by accident when I started working for Hughes Aircraft Company at the start of my career. I had been an estimator, buyer, and planner, so I was quite used to working with technical documents such as Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering specifications, data sheets, and more. Here are a few characteristics that I recognize in fellow technical writers: Continue reading

Hello World!

Nature providing inspiration near my house.

Well, I have finally entered the world of blogging. With such a crazy schedule, I really hadn’t planned on venturing down the path. But as I looked at my life of solitude (while I’m working, that is), I realized that I really need to get out there into the big, bad world and converse with real people. Especially since I am venturing into creative writing to balance out my very technical life. So…”Hello, everyone. My name is Carolyn, and I’m a writer!”

I look forward to getting to know everyone, and sharing inspirations that get my creativity flowing. This blog will be about all things creative, whether it relates to art, music, books, tattoos, or anything else that catches my interest. If it’s creative, then it’s fair game! We’ll be talking soon.

Carolyn
