I honestly did not think that I’d make it through this week. But then, I found a most delectable answer. One that is in an amazing package to boot. I don’t advertise, but I do share when I find something amazing. So, here it is…

DRINK IT. It’s that good. If only the boost lasted all month…

It’s always incredible to find a new artist who just blows your mind because he or she is celebrating their imagination in such awesome detail. Take this poster for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero by Guy Burwell. I really wish that I had found him sooner, because I too am always enraptured by artists who put so much passion into the details. When you can literally absorb a piece of work for hours, then you know that the artist is someone pretty special. Well, all artists are pretty special in my book because they put themselves on the line on a daily basis when they bring their inner world into reality for us to experience. But Guy is…WOW!!!!! I can tell you that I will be looking at his site to marvel at more of his work. I can’t tell what I love more: his amazing balance of playful color, or the intricate details that gets down into the finest lines that emanate from his hands.

– thanks to Inside The Rock Poster for leading me to this amazing artist

p.s. I’m showing this at the fullest resolution because there is just so much to experience. Enjoy!

Electronic Mandala

I’ll bet you never thought that you could turn your spare electronic parts into a beautiful work of art, did you? I just caught a glimpse of this incredible electronics mandala made by Leonardo Ulian. This deep thinking Italian artist wanted to show us that even the most simplest of electronic components can have a dual purpose when pursuing their ideal perfection. It boggles the mind to imagine what would happen if the circuitry actually went live in this mandala. What kind of output would come out of something so beautifully unique. The sheet amount of time that this mandala must have taken must have been incredible. I’ll bet that Leonardo touched upon his inner sense of perfection while creating this masterpiece. What a gorgeous tribute to science.

– thanks Colossal for a beautiful mystery for the mind

Everything Is Incredible

Be prepared for the tears. But they will be tears of joy. Because a man dreams. And his dreams are full of the magic of flight. There’s so much magic in his attempt to create an operational helicopter that has taken him most of his life to build. He’s collected parts over the years from everywhere. And he’s done it to conquer his own fight against Polio, which has taken away his freedom of movement. But not his freedom of imagination. His mind is as agile as that of an engineer. With no experience and little education in aeronautics, he still happily works on his creation of a lifetime. And even the town in which he lives hopes that he succeeds.

Hardship comes in many forms, but it can also be overcome by a simple dream that fills your every waking moment. And there is absolutely everything right about this. Because in Agustin’s world, Everything is Incredible.

There’s currently an Indiegogo campaign to help Augustin complete his dream by helping with his expenses. But watch this movie that was made with love by Tyler Bastian, Trevor Hill, Isaac Strack, and their team of incredible story tellers. This story is definitely one to cherish. It’s one to nourish because it involves the simple dream of a man who dared to dream. We should all be so lucky.

21 Swings Sing

Who knew that you could find your childhood in the middle of a city? Well, in Montreal, Canada, you could do just that with an exhibit called 21 Balançoires (21 Swings) that was created collaboratively by Mouna Andraos & Melissa Mongiat and a very talented team of dreamers. The concept is simple: get more people to swing on the swings and collaboratively create music together. With each added swing, the music becomes more complex and fuller.

What a perfect experience to show us what beauty can be accomplished when we work together. Find out more about this talented duo on their site, Daily Tous Les Jours. They have an incredible portfolio of shared creation by themselves and their audience. The awesome part of this moment is that they are in the midst of making a traveling version of this exhibit so that this idea can spread around the world. How perfect is that? Living in that perfect childhood moment where flight becomes real, and is accompanied by such beautiful rhythms.

Volleyball Using A Wall

http://youtu.be/hXyijizUsJ4

So, we’ve all heard about the border walls that separate countries from one another for “security’ reasons. There’s one that separates Mexico and the United States, which stretches along the length where the two countries meet. While we see our country’s government viewing the world through lenses that taint their perspective of humanity. But it’s not always the case with the citizens. It seems that there is a volleyball game that has been going on between these two countries, and it’s been spanning many, many years.

No matter how much our countries want to see one another as being too different, the truth is that we are actually much more similar than we realize. All it takes is a brief conversation, a willingness to reach out and connect, and then see where the connection takes both sides. If the mind and heart are open, other separations become superficial. It’s all up to the participants, who have a different view than our “officials” do. Hopefully, this volleyball game continues to bring the two sides together, until the day comes when the border wall is a thing of the past.

– thanks to Reddit and Vimeo for sharing this amazing video. And thanks to Brent Hoff and his team for making the short, Walleyball!

A Starry Night Of Iceland – MAGIC

I’m falling more and more in love with Iceland with every picture I find. How does this one make you feel? Me – pure magic! It’s called a Starry Night of Iceland, and it was taken in 2011 by Stephane Vetter who used a series of six exposures to obtain this magical ring of auroral light. The location is Jökulsárlón, a glacial lake in Iceland. We’ve definitely been seeing a lot more aurora activity because the sun is hitting its solar maximum. So, look up at your night sky and see if you’re lucky enough to be in an area that makes these spectacular sights easy to view. And share your pictures with us, because you can never have too many aurora images.

Unexpected Karaoke Star

http://youtu.be/9JJ6IZHBPU4

This is an unexpected karaoke performance that will make your Monday start on a bright note. I gather that it’s in some department store, but the girl singing is like nothing you’d expect to be singing karaoke on some shop floor. Her name is Zendee Rose Tenerefe, and she has got some serious talent (singing and dancing). I guess she’s known as the Random Girl, so she must do these impromptu appearances a lot? Anyways, enjoy Zendee Rose and start off your week on a high note!

– Thanks Reddit for the jaw drop

Favorite Image From Dr Who’s Dinosaur Episode

I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of this special scene from Dr Who’s “Dinosaurs on a Space Ship” episode that played last weekend. So, I was so happy to see this floating out there on the Net ether just like the Tardis is floating over Earth. I hope that you loved the whimsy of this episode as much as I did. Knowing that another change is about to happen on Dr Who makes the scene that follows this clip all the more poignant. We’ve seen various Dr Who’s get emotional about loved ones in their lives, but I think that Matt captured the sadness so eloquently with that one little look at Amy. There’s only so much heaviness that a viewer can take, and this episode was full of lovely reminders of shows that we love (like HG2G) all bundled in playful Dr Who wrapping. Isn’t this an incredible image? I need a larger shot of it.
