this isn’t happiness shared an image that led me to an incredible clay animator and stop motion artist. Red Nose Studio is the brainchild of one Chris Sickels, who is an incredible sculptor and artist. His figures are some absolutely delightful to see, and his movies are just full of whimsy and personality that must be just like their creator.
If you haven’t checked out his site yet, then go do it now. They’ll definitely put a smile on your face! And then check out his interview on Illustration Mundo to get to know him better.

What a perfect in-your-face campaign for actions directed to government officials. It seems that Yekaterinburg, Russia is like many cities with problems of decaying infrastructure – in this case, lots and lots of pot holes. Well, the citizens finally reached boiling point and got some graffiti artists to use the images of pertinent city officials to call notice to the problem, along with a quote from that politician promising a fix. Like most people who dislike negative PR, the politicians sought to hide the evidence of the public response. But hidden cameras were turned around on the city workers, proving that graffiti removal was the only thing on their work order. After the news traveled from Ura.ru, a local online news group, to other cities far and wide, the politicians were finally forced to do their jobs…as they should have done in the beginning.
This isn’t only happening in Russia. It’s happening all over the world, by politicians who believe that they can keep making empty promises. Our leaders have gotten away with doing too little for far too long (actually they only do a lot for those who pay a lot of money for their attention), but the citizens are no longer disengaged with the process. If you’re planning on entering into the political arena, you might want to remember all of those promises you made during your campaign. Because now you’re looking at citizens who are more than willing to headbutt the process until it works as the people want it to.
And citizens of the world, take note of what other citizens from around the world are doing to ensure that their government is running for all of the people. You might be able to use one of their ideas to address your own situation.
All you Pink Floyd fans out there are in for a treat. I just watched this video of David Gilmour performing an acoustic version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond back in 2002. Pure shivers of joy abounded. It got even better when Dick Parry joined David with a sax solo. As always, Reddit‘s the source of this piece of musical treasure.
Just kick back and enjoy the purest sounds of perfection. It’s hard to find the right words when moments like this collide with all of your senses. Absolutely brilliant! WOW!!!!
Patrick Vale is a maestro with a pen. And his hands wield this instrument with such free mastery that it’s amazing to watch. All of the lines of this Manhattan skyline were done freehand in this timelapsed video showcasing his incredible talent. If you want to see more, then go check out his site because it’s full of his magic. Most of us can only dream of working at this level of detail. Incredible to watch.
So, we’re all about to see the new direction that Jim Lee and crew is taking us on the Justice League in issue #12. Yes, Superman and Wonder Woman are falling in love. Once again, comic creators remind us that there really is little difference between people…and super heroes. Deep down, we want to be needed. We want to be connected. We want to be loved. In the midst of all of the turmoil that our lives contain, there is always a chance that we’ll find our soul mate.
So now we get a chance to see the beginning of a new relationship. One that’ll rock our world as well as the superhero world. Here’s our first glimpse:
Of course, any drawing by Jim Lee hits me straight in the heart. I’m looking forward to reading this issue! Comics are the best. 🙂

This gorgeous animation shows us the evolution of the arts, and was commissioned by Arts Centre Melbourne for the re-launch of Hamer Hall. It’s an amazing journey through art history in Melbourne (and reflects man’s own history as well), showing us how our tastes have changed with the times. Dirty Puppetis the creative genius behind this delicate guide that seeks to educate us about the history of the Arts Centre. They clearly are a master at their craft, and have really done this piece of history so beautifully. Simply said: BRAVO!
You really should go check out their site as well, because they really do know how to use the power of art!
I don’t know how I missed this, but NASA released some more images of the Apollo moon landing sites earlier this year. Here’s a link to the latest images: Apollo Revisited. All of these images were taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC), which is part of NASA’s mission to answer questions about lunar science. The image above is one of the images that came from the Apollo 11 mission and shows mankind’s first step onto Earth’s own satellite, the Moon. It’s amazing to revisit these first images of the Sea of Tranquility and still feel the same awe as we did when it happened back in 1969.
But now NASA has provided us with images from 2012 that shows the evidence that we had indeed set foot on the powdery lunar surface. See those lines radiating from the Lunar Module? Those are the footprint tracks that the astronauts left behind as they walked onto a surface that was the furthest point away from our planet ever traveled by mankind. Seeing that so little has changed since 1969 makes us think about the immense differences between a planetary body that actively restructures itself versus its satellite that is dormant (with the exception of the meteor impacts). On the Moon, history stays stagnant and can be easily located. On Earth, history changes with each new movement that shifts it away from our active plane of vision.
That’s only a small part of why space science is a critical part of understanding ourselves, and how we fit into this immense and changing universe.
Most of us will never get to see the insides of the International Space Station. Well, ESA astronaut André Kuipers is giving us the perfect opportunity to see how they live in outer space. The sheer amount of equipment and supplies that they have is a little mind-boggling, until you consider that they can’t just get things delivered by placing a phone call. Yeah, no stores around the corner for them and the delivery service is trickier than most. Follow along and get a glimpse of how like-minded specialists from around the world work together to complete studies in the weightlessness of outer space. This is an incredible opportunity to get an inside glimpse of how space agencies really work.

– thanks again Reddit. You always find some amazing things to share.
Jason Silva has done it again. We all know what it feels like to be awestruck. And now we know what it looks like when Jason is awestruck and wants to share it with us all. Honestly, what it sounds like is a pure symphony of thought. It’s transformational. He always has a way with words, but the sheer beauty of the imagery that his words convey actually supercedes the visual imagery that he uses in this video. This verbal maestro has always been a major source of inspiration for me, and this conversation about being awestruck leaves me shivering with delight. The buildup from the concept of awe to Hubble’s image of the Deep Field equating to our ability to “mainline the whole of time through the optic nerve” leads to nothing less than a blown mind and a rapidly overflowing heart. This is what it feels like if you’re lucky enough to have been gifted with an infinite desire to learn about…everything. This video is probably one of the closest depictions of beautiful, unending curiosity. It truly is a gift, because it only serves to makes us better than the day before. And that can lead to pure ecstasy of the soul, paired with an imagination like the most brilliant firework show you’ve ever experienced.
“We relish just being here. We feel “the yen to confirm and renew, in small ways or large, our own occupancy of the present moment, to go deeper, to extend it, to revel in being there, and when we have the skill, to celebrate it in words..” – Nicholas Humphrey
Thought for the day: If you want to see the strength of your ideas, then you need to crash test them against the wall of reality. The context of this idea was shared on an incredible picture of the 5th Solvay International Congresswhich included some of the biggest physics luminaries of the day, including my personal hero, Albert Einstein.
Science may be taking a beating these days in some areas of our society, but it is responsible for giving us the many explanations that help us to understand the universe we live in. Each generation of researchers uses the existing knowledge base as the brick wall for new ideas to be tested against. Imagination is one of the greatest assets that humanity has to offer. As long as curiosity is alive and well, our universe will continue to expand. We don’t know how far we have to go. That’s actually pretty inspiring. If there are no limitations, then the world (and more) really does become our oyster. A mind is like a gemstone. It only sparkles when it is honed, just like a diamond in the rough. These scientists are scratching the tip of the iceberg of knowledge. Look around you, and you’ll see new minds coming up with amazing discoveries. Anyone can join this Congress of the Mind. All it takes is passion and dedication to understanding everything there is about what you love.
Our censorship fight with the US Congress is far from over, as they continue to attempt to break the Internet with legislations driven by crony capitalism in the US and abroad. Though SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) have been pulled back for now, more continue to follow them. Now, we have to contend with ACTA(more) and TPP(2), which are international attempts to censor and control the Internet for the sake of commerce. And if that's not enough, now there's CISPA (more).
Go to EFF.org to keep up with the legal news that impacts our world and its technology. The greed won't stop, so we have to stay vigilant as well. Especially now that lobbyists are admitting out loud that they expect to be rewarded for their "contributions": Read it on TorrentFreak
