Polyglotism anyone? It sounds like these two guys definitely fit the mold, huh? Benny and Moses decide to visit the mall to see just how many dialects they’ll be able to speak. And wow, are they fluent. According to their YouTube video, they are speaking Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Wolof, Fulani, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Spanish, French, Tamil, and Portuguese.
I can only wish to be able to speak this many languages with such fluency. And what an amazing feat, considering how we the world is connected like never before. I’ll bet you can’t wait to learn another language, huh? Learn more about language hacking from Benny the Irish Polyglot on his site, Fluent In 3 Months.

Much of the business world has a reputation for being cheap regarding the wrong things – like critical infrastructure. So to see a chart which hilariously (but accurately) describes the corporate buying cycle of IT products is a treat.
Simon Wardley decided to depict a tweet by @jdrumgoole in the chart above. Anyone who works (or has worked) in or with IT can truly relate to the timeline. It actually can also translate to a lot of other buying habits that are associated with the production of a product. I should know because I used to be a buyer.
Advertising = oh, whatever you need is yours! After all, it’s the public face of our company!!
(mostly) Everything else = see chart above
Workers of the world, you have our sympathy. And thanks to Boing Boing for the awesome share.
Mark Applebaum was suffering from boredom as he played music that we’re all familiar with. As a matter of fact, you can say that we’ve all been in his position while pursuing a labor of love. But he decided to take his boredom head on, and see what would happen when he engages beyond the ordinary. Well, take a look at some of the instruments that he’s made, because they’re made from discarded items that we take for granted. And then see what inspires him to go beyond the familiar, like he does in his score writing. Honestly, his adaptations of watches and train maps are pretty amazing to see. It would be incredible to browse his notebooks, wouldn’t it?
Creativity always takes us along unknown paths when we keep our mind open to the extraordinary. It becomes that way because we become so fully engaged in the experience that we are changed during the process. Growth. Brilliance. And a bit of Bravery. Until boredom inspires us towards freedom.
Harmonies, beautiful harmonies that resonate deeply. Heroes affect us in much the same way that this song does. The New Velvet is a group of four friends who have been playing together for a while, and have already seen the highs that can be found in the music world. Introducing Dustin W (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Robby Tal (Guitar/Keys/Vocals), Ben Antelis (Drums/Vocals), and Sheep (Bass/Keys/Vocals) as the members of this amazing quartet that is as smooth as a piece of glorious velvet… and even silk.
Check them out because they sound incredible. Thanks Reddit (once again)!
Matt Harding seems to be a man on a mission to bring the world together with dancing. This man is a man after my own heart. Taking his “silly dancing” skills and turning it into a global group hug (and definitely even a jiggle), while hopefully teaching people (and business) about the right way to create PR. Not PR as in public relations, but PR as in People’s Reaction to a potential friend.
Seriously, read his About page (click on the link above) because his whimsical motivation is pretty inspiring. Maybe I’ve been stuck in one place for way too long, and I’m ready to immerse myself in the world again. A world that is so full of incredible people who aren’t afraid of embracing a stranger, because they understand what a potential friendship can lead to. A lot of people are tired of the barriers erected by those who see openness as a threat. It’s not. It’s the shiny bright colors of possibility. Isn’t Matt inspiring you to go out there? My feet are already tapping in delight.
If you were free to do anything, what would you do? Yup, you guessed my dream: learning about the world through complete and total immersion. Seeing the rolling sands of a desert that stretches to infinity in front of my very eyes. Laying on a field in a faraway countryside with remnants of the past all around. Touching a monument or walking on a road that history has traveled. Opening up my horizons. And reaching out a friendly hand to whomever would want to receive it, so that we can create one more friendly link that will bring the world closer together. Seems possible, right?
And while you’re at it, try to support Matt as he continues to dance with the world. He’s got a pretty incredible dream, if you ask me.
**Here’s another mind-blowing story that I found on Reddit about a guy who’s traveling across the US on foot to get his life back. Seriously amazing story: worldinstridesBravo to @hobo_nick for being brave enough to take back his life, and bring meaning back! Best of luck, Nick, and stay safe.
This gorgeous creation by four students from Supinfocom Arles. Thomas Bozovic, Alexandre Cazals, Julien Legay, and Chao ma were the brainchild behind this beautiful story that pits Brain against Brawn as they fight for the beautiful mischievous maiden who is not all that she appears to be.
Lessons learned: What hides inside is the true outside, though it rarely shows itself in its true light for all to understand. Valuing one trait above all else may make you superior when competing, but only if the competition requires your strength. Most times, it requires adjustments when the situation becomes fluid. And this is where failure becomes the end result. Because the situation cares little about you and your strength. But it does teach you much needed lessons so that you continue to grow in your response to life in all of its unpredictability.
Nice job, everyone working on this creation of love named A Fox Tale. It has everything that truly makes creativity inspirational. We can’t wait to see more!

How can you seriously not relate to this image of Crembo, the world’s most patient Chocolate Lab.
Yep, some days, this is what it feels like! All of it…
p.s. I saw the most perfect comment from gbimmer on what goes on in a Lab’s mind (ha ha, too funny):
OMG! A BALL!!! OH LOOK! SQUIRREL! OMG THERE’S A BALL IN MY MOUTH HOW DID IT GET HERE?!?! THERE’S MY MASTER! I’LL GIVE HIM THE BALL AND HE’LL LOVE ME FOR EVER AND EVER ANDEVERANDEVERAN… SQUIRREL!
THROW THEBALLTHROWTHEBALLTHROWTHEBALLTHROWTHEBALLTHROWTHEBALLTHROWTHEBALL! I’LL GET IT!!!! GET THE BALL GETTHEBALLGETTHEBALLGETTHEBALLGETTHEBALLGETTHEBALL! I GOT THE BALL! WHERE’S MY MASTER? THERE HE IS!!!! RUN TO MASTER RUN TO MASTER RUN TO MASTER! HERE YOU GO MASTER YOU DROPPED THIS AND I GOT IT FOR YOU AND I RAN TO YOU AND NOW YOU HAVE IT! THROW THE BALL THROW THE BALL….
And it just keeps going on from there until they pass out.
So, the thought for the day is: What will you do now that you’re a grown up?
It’s been a while since I visited xkcd, but Reddit managed to find another appropriate comic strip describing what it means to be a grown up. Yes, we do have the power in our own hands now to make the decisions that we want. Sometimes, they might be an attempt to recapture our youth as we want to experience it.
And sometimes, it’s about changing the way things are done so that your own dreams can be made into reality. There’s no one telling you what to do (well, there always is someone else involved, but the final decision’s yours), so make your actions and words count. They just might affect the world around you, and that’s where opportunity lies.
And if all else fails, you can relive your perfect childhood moment without hearing the word “NO!!!”
Phone booths in São Paolo, Brazil are looking quite different lately. In a call for imagination, telecom firm Vivo has partnered with 100 different artists to create their own interpretation of a phone booth using the same semi-circular covers. Of course, I had to post my favorite phone booth as interpreted by Juarez Fagundes (whose received over 1300 votes so far). Check out the Vivo Call Parade site to see all 100 artistic creations. Each and every one of them deserve a vote because the details on each and every one are just amazing to see. There are some talented (and imaginative) “phone booth designers” in São Paolo. 🙂
Our censorship fight with the US Congress is far from over, as they continue to attempt to break the Internet with legislations driven by crony capitalism in the US and abroad. Though SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) have been pulled back for now, more continue to follow them. Now, we have to contend with ACTA(more) and TPP(2), which are international attempts to censor and control the Internet for the sake of commerce. And if that's not enough, now there's CISPA (more).
Go to EFF.org to keep up with the legal news that impacts our world and its technology. The greed won't stop, so we have to stay vigilant as well. Especially now that lobbyists are admitting out loud that they expect to be rewarded for their "contributions": Read it on TorrentFreak
