I found this heartfelt message about awareness for homeless children Bumblebeelovesu on My Modern Met, and couldn’t resist sharing this with you all. With the demise of social nets in America and around the world, this is the kind of message that gets lost in the soundbites that call for the continuation of our superficial world. Just like these children get lost in the system that was started to protect them, but hasn’t been doing enough to nurture them as they allow them to simply survive.

Life should guarantee that we all are protected from the dangers that are lurking everywhere, caused by social decay. Fortunately, the social world is becoming a loud voice that is informing status quo that existing is simply not good enough. We should be all thriving and full of hope. Although the battle has only begun to see which world we all eventually choose, we all need to remember that we all have a hand in making change happen. It’s not an easy action to uplift, when so many people will tell you that change is impossible. That’s just wrong and defeating! Nothing’s impossible if we believe. What will it take for us all to believe in fixing all of the problems that we created, so that the future isn’t full of children desperately hoping that this isn’t what life is all about.

I hear the cries of the children? Do you?

The Same Color

No, I’m not promoting this show (though I do LOVE the music I hear). I just wanted to bring it up because I just heard the most awesome words spoken by one of the judges, Cee Lo Green:

Everybody’s the same color with the lights off

How can you not love this comment? Take away the superficiality of our world and simply feel it. Yeah, I keep saying it because I believe it. We need to change our feelings so that our guts are triggered by our soul and not just our mind. We learn a lot of stuff that colors how we think and act. But what if we didn’t let it color our actions and our words? What if we thought about how the other person feels at the same time that we worry about how we ourselves feel. Then it becomes equal, so that you just pick the best action that will make everyone live happily together – or at least co-exist peacefully.

There’s a lot of hate talk out there, and it’s coming from the people in charge (or so they think) who are destroying our world. Why do we let then keep doing the same crap?! We know we want a world that is a hell of a lot better than the one we’re living in right now. Comments like the one that Cee Lo made on a mainstream tv show go a long way towards starting us down a much better path. We need to share it when it happens, because when the thoughtful comments finally drown out all of the hate, then we’ll finally be able to move ahead towards a better life for us all. This is what I’m talking about!

p.s. The singers I heard on the Voice just after the Superbowl blew my mind! Holy crap, there is so much talent here. And the judges have a heart and some great advice for up-and-comers. Sing on.

Avengers – OMG!!!

For the comic geek, you’re already talking about this movie. You saw the trailer when it came out last year (and squealed like a school girl…oh wait, that was me). You just had to know if this movie was going to meet your seriously high expectations. Well, Marvel’s Avengers has an amazing cast (OMG, Chris Hemsworth!!) and a seriously incredible director, Joss Whedon. Yes, THE Joss Whedon of Buffy, Firefly, and Serenity fame (who also helped in Thor and Captain America) who is one of my all-time fav directors.

But the best thing that it has is the magic of hope that heroes bring with them. We’re in a world that has a whole lot of unsung heroes and not as many celebrated ones. Wouldn’t it be great if there were heroes like this in each and every one of us? Just think of how much we could change the world for the better.

What if…

And to close out our latest StumbleUpon day, I give you one of the prettiest sites I have seen. It’s called Design Seeds and is run by Jessica who has a serious love for color. Needless to say, this love put her on a path of color in her design job at Seed Design consultancy. If you are into design, color, clothes, or anything that is beautiful than this is the blog for you. I just spent a little time on it, and cannot walk away. It is that gorgeous! Go and enjoy it for yourself.

Wallbase.cc

It looks like this is going to be another StumbleUpon day. Every time I go on it, I am sucked in like I’ve entered a vortex of inspiration! Not that I’m complaining, because I am smiling wide.

If you are into making your desktop pretty with amazing wallpapers, then I’ve got the site for you: Wallbase.cc. It seriously has something for every taste, and they are actually pretty amazing to look at. If you’re low on inspiration, then this might be a place to go get some. And thanks to Yotoon for putting together this bit of eye candy.

In honor of the continuous talk about piracy, I picked this one: Hardcore Pirate Geek. Pretty appropriate, no?

Tekkonkinkreet

StumbleUpon has amazed me once again. I clicked a button and this stupendously amazing background illustration by Imperial Boy for Teikoku Shounen popped up:

But you have to go to the real thing to get the full blown “WHOA!!!” affect. Try it now: City Scape by Imperial Boy.

And here’s the animation that was done for – Tekkonkinkreet (it looks wicked good – and how did I not know about it!):

StumbleUpon, I LOVE YOU!!!

Everyone Counts

http://youtu.be/y0qZYqdsYAg

So, here’s the final Superbowl ad for today that means a lot to a lot of people, including me. After all of the superficiality that shows 24/7 on American tv, it’s kind of refreshing that something like this comes from a corporation (even if it’s one built on entertainment). Whether they get what millions are starting to say out loud or not we won’t know until we see how they keep acting after this.

But for now, here’s Flash Fans celebrating a bunch of guys who like to play hockey for nothing more than enjoying the game. No glory, but a whole lot of guts. As it should be with anything that you care about. Yeah, glory is nice in small doses, but it’s got a habit of doing bad things when it becomes constant and sucks your soul dry.

So, do something that you love, enjoy, and live for. People will tell you that the payback is what’s important. What they don’t tell you is that the payback isn’t really anything tangible (no, not money or glittering rewards). It’s about the payback that nourishes your soul. That’s the gift that keeps on giving…for a whole lot longer than anything superficial.

If you don’t believe it, then go give a compliment to a complete stranger that does something that amazes you. The happiness becomes contagious for all involved. And that’s awesome! As well as a reminder that everyone counts!

p.s. On an ironic note, this commercial was made for the Canadian broadcast of the biggest football game of the year. Yeah, that’s why I wrote the first paragraph the way I did.

Feel It

http://youtu.be/Fe1cJPD_ZbA

Yes, another year of Superbowl commercials that end up teaching you something (well, a few of them do), no matter how superficial the presentation. And here’s my favorite car ad featuring bugs who know what’s important in life. No, it’s not things like cars or anything else that is shiny and expensive.

How about the experience of the experience? I’ve said it over and over again, if you’re not feeling it, then you’re not living it. Sure, it won’t guarantee a life full of shiny, expensive things. But what about a shiny, happy soul? Isn’t that more priceless than anything we could try to own. Owning is fleeting, unless you’re owning who you really want to be.

Feel it, live it, love it. You’ll find that the future suddenly does look bright, because you’re embracing the meaning of life. Whatever that might be to you.

Man, I love that kamikaze bug at the end!!! ; )

A Reminder Of What We’ve Forgotten

Like you, I’m constantly reminded of awesome things by Reddit. One of the best things that Reddit offers is their warped sense of humor, which I totally relate to. ; )

And who does humor better than The Onion? Here’s a clip reminding us that sometimes we need a reminder of what we’ve forgotten. In this case, it’s the US Congress not remembering how to pass a law because, well, they’re too busy with stuff not related to their actual job. Considering that we’re in an election year in the US (that we’re all trying really hard to ignore – but it’s impossible for obvious reasons), let this be a reminder that we too need a reminder…well, more like a slap in the face. Seriously, this is what we elected???

For the love of all that’s holy, can we please finally chose people who actually want a better world, instead of paying it really false lip service???

– thanks Reddit for always coming through with the stuff that we need (and don’t)

Joe Fenton Is Back, And My Jaw Dropped

Joe Fenton is back with a new piece for the beginning of 2012 and I am once again in awe, with my jaw dropped to the floor. “On The Air” is one of his latest illustrations, and he seriously enthralls with his crazy characters in black and white. I actually love that he seems to symbolize the thrall that we’re held in by our entertainment (at least that’s how I read it). And after checking out his Behance profile, I found out that he did a children’s book called “What’s Under The Bed?” back in 2008. It’s so adorable!!!

Go see the rest of his stuff on his site and Behance. They just mesmerize, don’t they??
