Max Zorn Tapes

My Modern Met has introduced us to another masterpiece!

You have to see this street art to believe it. We see some amazing creativity coming from the street art and graffiti world, but this one takes it to a new level…with the use of packing tape. Seriously, this is something to behold as Max Zorn creates some gorgeous portraits through Tape Art. What’s so unusual is the depth of each image as we’re treated to light and shades that turn the image into something like a painting…with tape.

And here’s Max showing us just how he puts up his work on lighting fixtures so that we can enjoy the image as it’s meant to be seen: Continue reading

Immortal Stanley Kubrick

How can we look into the future if we don’t first see our past? Well, Gustaf Mantel has a pretty interesting take on looking at our past films through our love of animated GIFs. oneplusinfinity forwarded a Fastcodesign’s Stanley Kubrick tribute page (a while back), but Gustaf has done way more than just those films. Go take a look at his site to see some insane graphics that bring these movies back to momentary life! They really do bring a portable immortality to some great film scenes.

Of course, I had to go with 2001: A Space Odyssey. I mean, what else speaks to our past and our future so eloquently? Well, maybe, Mel Brooks’ History of the World? ; )

A Duet With Siri

I told you that I found some good stuff on oneplusinfinity, and this was no exception. We all have a love affair going with our iPhones, and some with Siri as well. But how many of us would make a love song with Siri? Well, there is one guy, Jonathan Mann, who would do just such a touching gesture. So without futher ado, here it is, A Duet With Siri:

Pole Dance

Seriously, we need to go into the weekend on a fun note, and this caught my eye from this isn’t happiness. I can’t stop laughing! And I’ll never be able to look at rabbits again without seeing this.

Scream

So, since I’m starting the first weekend of 2012 on a fun note, I figure that this note is complete (in)appropriate for the moment.

I found it on a little trip from this isn’t happiness’ site to oneplusinfinity, which has some great stuff. By great stuff, I mean good design finds, similar tastes, and a skewed sense of humor like mine. The owner of this site, Tim, must be good as he’s got a castle in Brooklyn. ; )

– going back to see what else he likes.

One Economy Sector

So I have barely brought up economics this year on my blog (this is a blog about inspiration, plus 2012 just started), but I just had to share this video (retweeted by @umairh and @MurphreeLinda). The conversation by Philip Auerswald is powerful, easy to get, and really, really relevant right at this very moment. Not only at this moment, but for our future as well. Our leaders don’t want to get this. Our economists don’t want to talk about this. Our people don’t want to think about this. But we have to…NOW!

I won’t be verbose in this post because I can’t do as good of a job as Philip does. He does it brilliantly, and in such an eloquent manner. These are the messages that we need to hear. And then we need to do something about it.

If you want my viewpoints, then go to the Urban Times, who I also write for.  I am pretty verbose on this subject and more there. Those of you who know me, know that I’m pretty passionate about wanting change. I don’t pretend to have the knowledge that Philip has, but I do get what it takes to make a prosperous future for us all. This is the year that I actually use my skills to help it happen, along with so many others who are already moving in that direction. This is going to be an interesting year!

Book Of Life

Is this not the most beautiful tribute that you’ve ever seen? David Kracov was commissioned to create an award that honored the extraordinary work of Rabbi Yossi Raichik, the much loved director of Chabad’s Children of Chernobyl. That such a gorgeous Book of Life can be created for such a wonderful cause as protecting and speaking for the children of one of the most frightening moments in history that still resonates today is truly inspiring.

The book is a true monument to Rabbi Raichik’s work in helping over 2,547 children rebuild their lives, as they are the words of those he helped. The power of his love takes flight as the survivors’ thoughts have been transformed into butterflies that outshine the colors of a rainbow.  And that love lives on in this memorial award that will be given in his honor. What a beautiful statement.

– Thanks you for this share, My Modern Met!

A Splashy Future

Fashion makes statements. It’s what it does. It what it’s supposed to do (according to the rhetoric). But sometimes, it goes beyond to create something crazily good, and this is one of those times. Splash asked Tejal Patni for a new 2012 calendar and they really got something special. Here’s one of the images inspired by futuristic B-movies, and it’s one of my favorites as it reminds me of the caterpillar (steampunk version) from Alice in Wonderland. What more do I have to say?

An Adele Moment

There’s a fire in my heart, reaching a fever pitch and it’s bringing me out of the dark…

It just feels like one of those moments when we just need to hear Adele. At least I do. So, I couldn’t think of a better song than Rolling in the Deep. The lyrics are already poignant for our moment in time, but it’s that passion that she shares in this song that gets to me every time I hear it. Enjoy this as much as I did!

We could have had it all…

Wonderland by You

My eye was caught by this adorable piece, Brooklyn, by You Byun on Ape On The Moons’ main page. She loves mixing young girls with monsters and such, but with the whimsy that comes with children’s illustrations. If you go to her site, you’ll see more of her heart-warming creations, and they’ll all make you smile.

And if you want to see more creative artists, check out Ape on the Moon to see a wide range of artists that will meet your creative inspiration needs. He definitely got a great eye for finding amazing talent.
