Magic of Words

I finally got to see the final Harry Potter movie. I decided to wait because, frankly, I wasn’t ready for it to end. But as I got to my favorite scene of the movie, I heard the most amazing words spoken by Dumbledore to Harry (thanks to Harry Potter Wiki for this image): Words are our most inexhaustible source of magic.

The ending of this scene when Dumbledore describes his power with words sums up how I feel as a writer: My imagination comes to life with my words. The world that I want lives through carefully chosen phrases. I use my words in so many ways, for so many reasons. I can use them to teach, to describe, to motivate, and to feel. What illustrators do with lines, writers do with letters. Put them together to create the words that make magic come alive for each and every one of us, in our own way.

But we also need to remember to nourish that magic so that it stays alive within us. Never take the magic for granted, because it can desert you if you don’t treat it right. It takes magic to make magic. The magic of setting yourself free to imagine all that can be. Sharing it to grow into something more magnificent. After all, magic shared is the most powerful magic of all.

I hope that you enjoy reading my words as much as I enjoy creating and sharing them with you all. And I also hope that each and every one of you finds that magic within you and sets it free in whatever form you want it to be. It’s one of the most amazing feelings in the world, and I wish it for you.
