What’s in a Face?

The perfect specimen just doesn’t exist! The quest to create the perfect anything has driven industries to the edge of destruction as well as the edge of creativity. You’ve passed those brainstorming meetings…the ones where insults are flying as fast as the ideas. But the one-fit solution just doesn’t work. It probably never did because none of us are alike. And because nothing stays the same forever.

With a society that’s looking and acting quite different from a few decades ago, it’s now time for everyone to finally just admit that there’s going to be multiple good fits into divergent processes, both new and old. We’re now made up of so many disciplines that there really is enough to go around. If we take the best from each demographic and generate new processes, who knows what might develop? Isn’t the sky supposed to be the limit?

Everyone should take a look at the people around them. Get a good picture of who they are by their outer appearance. What do you think you can learn from the person standing next to you? How about the person you just passed? It’s hard to imagine because you only have a small part of the total picture. But once you take some time to get to know that person’s knowledge and experiences, then you’ve opened up an entire world that could bring about a whole new world of possibilities.

We need to think outside of the box if we want to succeed in this new global environment. Until now, we’ve only used the knowledge that we’re limited to. It’s taken us pretty far, but we’re now stagnated because we refuse to push past the barriers that have limited our growth. There’s a big world out there, and everyone has a small piece of the knowledge. It’s time to link up and create a new reality that not limited by blinders. Learn from the past and look to the future.

Big Think just posted a new thought about how to keep older workers engaged, and I hope that someone out there is listening! Because this world that we’ve got needs some help…FAST!
