Cute with Brains

I know I’m a month late, but I just stumbled on the most amazing and adorable device by Neurowear called Necomimi. If you are familiar with Japanese manga, then you’ll know what they are. Translated as “cat ears”, it’s a staple in anime and manga characters where animal ears reflect the characters moods.

Well, it looks like someone’s finally brought them to real life with this new invention. Using a headband that monitors brainwave activity, the Necomimi react to the users state of relaxation by laying flat, or enthusiasm by wiggling. See the video below courtesy of Neurowear.net.

Now, you won’t have to try to figure out a person’s mood through verbal and non-verbal cues. Just look at his or her Necomimi! Life just got a whole lot simpler.

Neurowear is indicating that these will be available at the end of 2011, though the colors are still being decided. I know that many people are already showing an interest. Though I had to chuckle when I saw that some users wanted devil horns. I know that I’d get either one.
