Do What You Love

It makes so much sense, and yet so many of us forsake it to do for others. But at some time during your life, you’ll realize that the only way to fill your well is to simply do what you love. Typically, people think of this as pursuing a hobby, something to enjoy in your off time. But does it really have to be just some activity that you enjoy once in a while, when time permits? Yes, life is busy and we all have so many people asking for our help. It’s good to answer these calls, because you’re making a difference in their lives. But sooner or later, you need to make a difference for yourself. It’ll expand your horizons because you’ll find that your interests will develop into callings, which will make you into a formidable force for change.

I’ve been looking for something different that will help me along my own path towards self-fulfillment. My alarm finally blared its shrilling ring and alerted me that the time is now. Sure, it probably sounds selfish, but I’m finding that I have more energy and passion than when I was just working. Of course, it helps that my partner in life, my husband, finally found a way so that I could make this happen for me. (Thank you, John, for this opportunity. I will make it happen somehow!) And I must say that my creativity has hit an even higher peak that’s made me (almost) forget about those times of gray. Words and images have been pouring from me. This is simply AWESOME!!!

As I continue my search for creative inspirations, I found a new bandwagon that calls to me (yes, belatedly again) because his cause is also my cause. Chris Guillebeau’s Art of Non-Conformity is an inspirational site because it’s full of words of wisdom to fight against the ordinary and reach for the extraordinary to change the world. I have to say that I did see his book, but didn’t get a chance to read it (which I’m now changing). But I’ve had a chance to surf his site, and am tickled by his words. They’re so much common sense, and yet they’re things that I don’t do for a multitude of reasons that now sound hollow to me.

Here are some examples of his postings:

Seriously, what rock have I been living under?? This guy is the perfect solution to my own desire to make good changes for me and for the world. Go to his site and read more of his postings. You need to check him out, and join the AONC army (if you haven’t already)!

Closing off this thought for now, I want to leave you with one challenge. Find something, anything, that screams at you to try. Ok, do you have it? Well, go do it! It’s that simple. Do what you love, and see what can come of it. There are thousands of people who find this path and choose to make it their life’s calling. Heck, the people that I choose to follow and/or befriend are exactly the type that I’ve been talking about here, and are a great source of inspiration to me. Why not join them? This world needs it, and you won’t be alone.
