Today I Stumbled

Writers need inspiration or their well goes dry. You’ve heard me say this before. Any creative person will tell you that the key to their prolific offerings comes from a continually changing landscape of inspirations. Sometimes tumultuous inspiration can lead to passionate phrasing, but it can quickly devolve the entire experience of creation if the wrong path is followed.

So today, I temporarily stopped observing conversations in the ether and chose to once again immerse myself into it. It felt like the first wondrous steps I took when I was a fledgling taking off on my Net surfing adventures so many years ago. I am now a child of Stumbleupon and my eyes glow with those unexpected things that are presented to me for my enjoyment. Sometimes being a slow adopter means missing a lot of wonderful opportunities, but at least I’ve woken to the possibilities. Take a look at the video above that I found on the Sky Lantern Festival in Thailand – something that I always wondered about, but didn’t research until it was presented to me.

Sure there were hits and misses in the offerings, but mostly hits so far. I can’t imagine how long it would have taken me if I’d gone the long route. Although there’s nothing wrong with the long route, because it’s a direct and lengthy immersion into the unknown and unexpected. I do love that they call this wonder a discovery engine. How appropriate! So go out there and discover. I’m out there, so maybe we’ll stumble upon one another. I’ll be the one with the wide curious eyes and a big smile on my face as I look around in awe.
