Finding Ties That Bind

Sometimes comments make you chuckle – like this one from Boing Boing. Maggie did a piece on Girl Scout cookies that spoke of the eternal struggle over which is the best type of cookie. Now there are as many ideas about what constitutes a good cookie as there are places from the cookie’s history. Depending on where you’re from and how you were raised, your ideas aboutĀ ingredientsĀ and taste will differ as widely as the human population itself.

Thin Mints are the best! No, we love Samoas!! Let’s here it for Tagalongs!!! Rabble, rabble, rabble…

The cries in the night ring out in support of their taste bud’s delight. But like Scott says, the love of cookies should unite people. Or the love of dessert. Or the love of mashed potatoes. Yep, we all have things that we have to sample (gorge on). And we all know that we’ve not come close to sampling all that’s out there in the world.

Here’s to finding the ties that bind. We all have to eat. Maybe that’s a way to hug the world? There’s a saying that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. We should create and share foods so people get to know one another better through our senses. After all, who doesn’t love a good dessert? There’s enough flavors for everyone to love one.
