We’ve all been following the horrific news from Japan. I’ve been lucky because my family, who live in Yokohama, were out of harm’s way. But it is hard to watch the news and see the continued suffering that these wonderful people have to endure.
Artists from around the world have been launching campaigns to help the people find some comfort in an uncertain future. I wanted to bring up the Monsters and Misfits gallery showing by Circus Posterus. Although this showing had been planned for months before the tragedy, Brandt Peters, Kathie Olivas, and Chris Ryniak had to carefully consider to move forward with the venture. Once they decided to make this a benefit show, Tomonosuke Syoten put together a beautiful showcasing of some of their latest creations. Here are some links about the show:

I know that art is in the eye of the beholder, but their art just makes me smile. And that is why they are a big inspiration as I move forward with my own creative endeavors. If I can write half as beautifully as they draw, then I will consider the work a success!
I created this image as a minor tribute towards the people of Japan, my other home, just after the earthquake and tsunami occurred:

Love the design: so expressive of your connection to Japan…
Thanks, Angela. It was a work in progress that changed with every new feeling until it became this. Enjoy!
