When Wood Meets Metal

Grove is collaborating with a variety of artists to create a new series of iPhone 4 cases. The difference with these are pretty noticeable and beautiful. Grove is popular because of their focus on using a sustainable material like bamboo for the casing, along with other complimentary practices throughout the production process. And they have a huge fan base that supports their work in Portland, OR. There are also cases for the iPad along with standalone wood art. Go see their site to see what they have to fit your needs, while saving our world one case at a time.

When You Let It Alone

And once again, nature proves to be more resilient in its capability to survive almost anything. We tend to equate things in nature as a supplement put there only for our use. Well, that is most definitely not true in a viable ecosystem. One chain lives off another in perfect harmony, and with no need for gluttony. We are not in that same frame of mind, probably since we’ve always been taught that winners take all. But when you’re talking about the game of life, then the rules were not created by mankind.

We’re being shown that when we’re taken out of the equation, nature has a way of bouncing back from the atrocities done by man. National Geographic has an article on the recovery of the Gulf of California when fishermen were taken out of the picture. Cabo Pulmo National Park was protected in 1995 by the people who live near it, and they now have new wonders to marvel because of their choice to live with nature instead of against it. Nature Producing Perfection

The salt flats of Salar de’Uyuni in Bolivia mirror the expansive skies from above, and blend them together so that you’re walking through clouds. Perfect, isn’t it? Nature truly does inspire on a much larger scale, and allows each of us to dream of beauty. – found on artinfodotcom

Tiny Origami

Anja Markiewicz has such dexterity in her hands that she creates miniatures from paper, otherwise known as origami. Here’s a little creation that she’s made. It’s adorable, but it’s also amazing that she could put such details like the delicate curve of its tail and an upturned nose. Now that’s talented creativity!

Expect The Expected

It’s a little disappointing when your perception becomes reality. It’s normal to doubt yourself when things seem too good to be true. That’s how we know to expect the expected. Especially when it deals with us fickle humans. Case in point: People flock to places where they perceive a free opportunity for themselves. But once they’re confronted with a mirrored image of their actions, they realize that the opportunity is gone. The fact is that the opportunity was never there to begin with. It’s just that we perceived it because we wanted it: The easy out.

We should all know by now that nothing that you really want is ever easy. Otherwise, the win wouldn’t mean much to us. Think back through your past: When something was given to you, did you cherish it? How about when you worked your fingers to the bones for something? Notice the difference. I’ll bet that you took much better care of what you worked hard for. Continue reading

Heaven On Earth

National Geographic is presenting some photos of Hebrides, Scotland as taken by photographer Jim Richardson for the January 2010 story of this hauntingly beautiful land. This to me is heaven on Earth.

Yes, But What’s Underneath

As you already know if you follow this blog, I’m not a fan of politics. I don’t even like to write about it. But sometimes everything in your world moves to the point that you just have to make a statement. Something based on your own personal views. Like now, because ideology has taken root and is causing irreparable harm to the entire world.

Somewhere along the way, our message was horribly mangled. It’s the message of what our country stands for. What we learned in the past was that we were the land of opportunity. But unfortunately, the sheen has tarnished on that message. In fact, many are pondering if this is even our message any longer. Actually no, I’m wrong, because each person who lives here believes in their own personal take of the message. This is appropriate as we’re a democratic (?) society. Now the question that resonates is: Is opportunity something tangible (like individual wealth) or something more long-reaching and all-encompassing (like USA as a land of the free)? Continue reading

Still Need More Connection?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF_XiCApFe8&feature=player_embedded

Sometimes your iPhone or Blackberry (or whatever smartphone you use) isn’t enough to keep you connected with the world. Well, someone has come up with a new Smartwatch that makes your mobile connection a part of you. (Almost) literally. The i’m watch is an Italian designer smartwatch, and it works with the same movements that you’re already used to: touch, drag, swipe, or pinch. Plus you can customize it with colors and jewel-toned metals for a look that screams you.

This is for anyone who wants the connection to be a part of themselves… uh huh.

Whoa – You’ve Got To See What Sharpies Inspire

Sharpie posted this video clip of an obvious fan of theirs, twakenight, who has created a stunning bedroom using some amazing artistic talent. Seriously, there really is creativity happening everywhere, and it’s beyond a pleasure to see. It’s clear that we are capable of so much when love and passion for something is involved.  I had to share this because this Sharpie fan deserves the attention!
