Tattoos Becoming Animated

DesignTaxi had another popular post that needs to be shared. If you’re having a hard time justifying the beauty of tattoos, well, a tattoo artist has taken them to a new level. Karl Marc from Mystic Tattoo Parlor in Paris has tattooed a matrix code into a tattoo design that will interact with your mobile device to create a new experience with the tattoo. Take a look at the video, because you’ve never seen a tattoo do this before.

It’s a whole new way to start a conversation about this growing art form. Some like it, and others don’t. But you can’t deny that this particular tattoo struck you in the heart, just a little!

How Much Is The Internet Worth?

It’s the million dollar question, “How much would you pay for the Internet?”. Unfortunately, this lopsided video only shows one side of the conversation. The assumption is that had it not been for capitalism (ugh, don’t get me started), most of the things that we take for granted (cellphones, computers, the Internet) would not be available to us today.

Well, sure, of course that’s true. But what they fail to mention is that it took the minds of creative geniuses who first thought of these inventions for more than monetary gains. They were trying to make improvements that inherently benefited society. In fact, if you were to look behind many of these key iconographic tools, you would find that our military funded many of these inventions at the birth of the original concept. And frankly, had it not been for the knowledge and power base of many universities, they probably wouldn’t look or function like anything that we have today. Continue reading

When Criminal Behavior Makes A Valuable Statement

I’m feeling the stress from the ideological battles being waged. Here’s my take on the wrong kind of justice. I hope that you’ll be interested enough to continue:

Our world is in a mess at the moment. There is a major schism happening in society that is fragmenting the world that we know. In this world, there are three distinct factions of people:

  • The privileged few who use the system to keep obtaining further privileges;
  • The majority who try to follow the system, and end up dealing with status quo and little return;
  • The few who use whatever methods they deem necessary to affect changes to the status quo, typically to their own personal detriment.

NHK’s AH Game

There is just so much genius coming out creatively in the news today! Creativity Online’s newsletter led me to this amazing video by NHK Japan for an educational program whose new theme is based around the Japanese Hiragana character “Ah”. This interactive game allows the user to draw in the Japanese character (so, go learn how to draw it first). This is all in Japanese, so for those who aren’t familiar with the language:

  1. Click on Next (tsugi he) at the bottom center of the screen.
  2. Draw in the “Ah” character.
  3. Click on the right side for “Yes” or “Hai” that you’re satisfied with your entry.
  4. Then sit back, interact, and have some fun. Clicking on the character as it moves by will make it dance. You can also change the tonal variations of the song.
  5. It seems to go by infinitely so you’ll have to gauge when you’ve had enough.

NHK’s game site: Welcome to AH’s song!

Chaos As Joy

If you’re into joyful creative chaos, then you’re going to love the antics of Improv Everywhere. NOTCOT.org shared a tweet on this new MP3 experiment (first video), which got me curious to know more about the group behind this fun type of creative genius. We’re all coming together under a common desire for some chaotic fun, and hopefully not just following everyone else? Yes, we can make an impact through creative use of the message. See some of their past doings below. I know I’ve posted other projects of theirs in the past, though I hadn’t realized the creative talents behind those experiments. Awesome way to make a statement, guys. Don’t ever stop!

When Is It Too Much Data?

To all of you efficiency gurus, I apologize for my disagreement. But this comes from years of experiencing the utter failures of my repeated attempts. You’re fighting a battle that you’ll never win.

It’s been awhile, but I’m going to have to cross back into the technical for this one. I’m a data lover. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m enthralled at what you can do with raw data. It’s a symphony of chaos from which I can detect a thread to pull in order to extract what I need. Data mining really is that: digging through the data to come up with those few gems that can be polished. The findings create the foundation that we all use to generate our own creations for our own individual purposes. But when does it become destructive because you’re purposely trying to manipulate the process for your own visualized outcome? Continue reading

In Tribute To The Return of Football…

What’s the best way to celebrate the return of FOOTBALL (woo hoooo)? Well, if you’re me, and your favorite player has a new commercial, well….

Need I say more?!

Yep, one more thing. Welcome back, NFL! We glad the nightmare’s over. Well, some of it.

If You Can’t Play Well With Others

This seemed timely in light of all of the childish behavior being exhibited by adults everywhere. It doesn’t seem to make much difference about their adult beliefs or their social position: rich, poor, religious, atheist, artistic, or scientific (trust me there’s more). All of the iterations of adulthood personae have created an interwoven web of destructive views. And that web is threatening to collapse our very society because we adults have forgotten that simple rule we were given as children: Learn to play well with others.

We’ve seen the pranks that children play on one another when they disagree. It’s usually simple harmless fun, although at the time their young worlds felt as though they’d disintegrated. Well, the pranks that we play as adults are much more catastrophic because we are at the top of the social familial hierarchy and dictate how the world should behave. So far, we adults are only showing that we’ve actually forgotten our childhood lessons once we matured. Continue reading

Now THIS Is Perfect – HUSH!

If you’re looking for a place to escape from it all (like I am), then this might be just what the doctor ordered. Freyja Sewell designed the “Hush” womb-like getaway to allow for some privacy in a world that has become excessively social at times. And it’s also ecologically friendly as it’s made from wool felt and recycled wood fiber. All-around perfection in the making!

Because it can be opened and closed as needed, it has a dual purpose of providing both quiet opportunities and social opportunities to those who need both. I am getting in line for this little treat!

– found through DesignTaxi tweet and blog post. Thanks again, guys!

Creativity Works.

If you’re trying to convince others that your creative abilities can actually produce more than just pretty things, then I suggest that you watch this video (and forward the link to them). This creative Ebay project (done in 2009) was actually the work of an Australian creative team from George Patterson Y&R, who are clearly experts at thinking outside of the box. Their results provide stupendously positive proof that great results can come from adding a little extraordinary creativity to pump up something ordinary.

The path to creativity takes a little bit (sometimes a lot) of extra work, but those who are involved in this pursuit can attest that it doesn’t always feel like work. So, why not do something that you’ll enjoy while providing a positive impact to someone else’s day? The end results usually end up benefiting everyone involved.

Note: I found this through We Blog The World tweet -> Google search find and original Ebay transaction.
