Collaboration Has A Sound

We all talk about how special collaboration is. We see the amazing results everyday all around us when amazing talents create something bigger than they could have single-handedly. But did you know that amazing collaboration has an incredible rhythm? Take the Swiss Top Secret Drum Corps. Visually, they are pretty stunning with their choreographed stick tosses, and even story line presentations. But it’s the snare drums that get me every time when they play off of one another. This is the sign of the purity that comes from an immersion into the collaboration process. And it brings me back to my days when I was part of the drill team in high school. The percussion squad was simply pure magic for me then, and it hasn’t changed all that much years later.

When you’re looking for a sign that your collaboration efforts are going well, simply remember what these guys sound like. Passion for what drives you will have a distinct sound all of its own. It’s the sound of an army in full march, but this army is all about creative destruction. And they are taking no prisoners as they create that up-welling of inspiration that bubbles over at the crescendo.

R2D2 Is Steampunk

Star Wars fans who are also fans of Steampunk (who wouldn’t be?) can get their first look of what Steampunk R2D2 would look like. AmoebaBoy has made this incredible robot using coffee stirrers (ha, you didn’t think I’d continue from the previous post, did you?) and part of a water meter. And if you’re really into robots (again, who isn’t?), then you need to check out his blog of incredible robot creations that he’s done. And he’s an incredible restorer as well (that Vespa restoration is gorgeous!).

beep beep woo wooo meep… (seriously, it’s hard to speak like him)… He’s thanking you for calling him gorgeous. 😉

– thanks to Picssy for this beauty

Need To Wake Up?

Need to wake up? If you’re in need of a caffeine boost this morning, I found just the thing to help you out. Courtesy of wallbase.cc, here are your stormtroopers coming to the rescue with a nice cup o’ java. I don’t know what it is about these little guys, but I have fallen in love with each new one that comes out. And I’m more of a Dr Who, STNG, Buffy, Avengers fan (there’s a whole lot more I’m a fan of), so this extreme fascination is kind of mind boggling. But so so cute!

Space X Is In Space

This was the banner that captured the attention of the world as we waited to see if the second attempt for Space X would be successful.

Guess what? It was:

http://youtu.be/BjVvcG1QYGI

Space X has become the first private company to launch their vehicle for docking with the International Space Station. The Falcon 9 rocket will be carrying the Dragon spacecraft on a test mission to verify the way private companies will be working with NASA in the future. It took off successfully at 12:44am PST on May 22, 2012 and will take four days of travel and testing before it attempts to dock with the ISS. In total, the mission is estimated to take 2 weeks. Read more about the mission in the Falcon 9/Dragon mission press release.

This is an exciting time for private space travel. We’ve finally reached the time when space travel will be accessible to more than the chosen few. We are entering an era when our most fervent dreams can be produced by our own two hands. Actually, it’s always been the case, but now we have proof that anyone can reach up and touch the stars. Pretty amazing thought, isn’t it?

Bravo Space X for this major milestone: You’re in outer space. May all of your dreams always be in reach. You’ve shown what can be accomplished when passion and dedication power the wind blowing you onward and upward! Mankind has taken another step upward.

Even Neil DeGrasse Tyson Gets Tired

Are you tired and frustrated of how life is treating us? Well, you’re not alone. Even the brightest mind in the world is feeling it lately. Listen:

http://youtu.be/Gm-8-8401WQ

Neil DeGrasse Tyson spoke a few words at Mount Holyoke College (where he got an honorary degree), and he did his usual multi-tasking (yes, tweeting while talking) as he tried to leave a few words of wisdom to the newly minted graduates. Except this time, he told the real truth of how he’s feeling (he’s been pretty honest lately, huh?),

“I’m tired. I can’t keep doing this. I need the rest of you to help me fix the world.”

Yup. Even Neil DeGrasse Tyson gets tired. It’s hardly enlightening because he’s human. But it’s relevant because even a guy with a whole lot of answers still can’t get his own questions answered. So there’s still a lot for all of us to do. Time to start helping.

Just saying…

A Tiny World Within A Tube

It’s the tube that’s left behind at the end of every roll. A small extended world that doesn’t seem to hold much, unless you look closely. Especially after Anastassia Elias finishes creating her mini-worlds that depict frozen moments in time, as though you’re spying on them through a telescope. Lighting changes the atmosphere so that it feels like you’re envisioning the moment on a warm summer day. Take a look. Be amazed. Life really is everywhere.

– Yep, Reddit found this…again.

Thought For The Day – Being Challenged

I thought that I would pass along this pretty insightful quote, considering that Mondays can sometimes be challenging.

Life isn’t the most easiest of games to play, probably because none of us consider it to be a game. But life is a series of challenges that serve to do a couple of things:

  • Test our ability to see
  • Test our ability to learn
  • Test our ability to persevere
  • Test our reactions to influences

But the biggest challenge of all is to be able to tell if we are actually willing to keep the game moving. There is no such thing as an ending, because every ending is also an entry to something new. Sometimes the door looks closed. But sometimes we simply don’t realize that we actually had the key all along.

– Check out Great Minds Quotes – they can be really inspiring!

Being challenged can be a good thing. It’s a test to see whether you’re really seeing all of the possibilities.

Yes, Sometimes Goats Cause Trouble

You have got to see this hilarious video created by Benjamin Cady called The Goat and The Well. It is not only charming, but it’s actually gives you a burst of laughter throughout the little encounter between a woman and her goat. I’ve heard that goats can be difficult, but this goat actually makes his quest pretty plain to see. I’d actually say that most of us could relate to the goat in more ways than one. 😀

Congrats to Benjamin on a brilliant graduation production which won some well-deserved awards for it. I have a feeling that we can expect a lot of awesome things from this guy. He definitely has a wonderful sense of humor that will take him far in life!

– And once again, thanks for the ray of sunshine, Vimeo!

Start With A Smile

http://vimeo.com/16778908

Dr Tom wants to start his day with a smile in La Liberte En Cavale. This sweet little video clip by One More Production, a French visual effects company also sets us up with a subtle warning that life indeed tries to take that smile away. But simply wake up and realize that there still is a lot to smile about. Go out into the world and see the simple things that make us happy and make us smile. A child’s giggle. A baby animal. A warm sunny day. And the best of all, something or someone you love.

And if you think you’ve seen One More Productions work before, then you probably have. I recognize them from Pixels.

– Thanks Vimeo for this delightful start for a new week
