Drowning

You all know that I fell in love with Walk Off The Earth‘s recent song, Somebody That I Used To Know. Well, once I was clicking on the other videos being featured, I stumbled on a song sung by the only female musician in the group, Sarah Blackwood. This lovely song, Drowning, was the first one that I played, and I became even more enchanted with her music. It is a rather haunting song that depicts emotions that all of us have encountered at some time in our lives. You need to listen to this and then go hear some more, as her music is enchanting. I need to listen to more of her. So do you!

p.s. The notes on the YouTube page indicate that she’s released 4 new songs in total. Gotta go hear them!

If I Controlled The Internet

Rives made this poem from a simple comment that he overheard on an entertainment channel, “I’m really getting into the Internet lately. I just wished it were more organized”.

This one thought that will make most of us Netizens LOL brought out the brilliance on how Rives’ Internet would look “If I Controlled The Internet”. It actually sounds like it would be a pretty great place since all of the sites that we normally go to would help build the world of our dreams (well, Rives’ anyways). Enjoy!

NICE, Ted!

Heroes For Hire

Aren’t these comic covers gorgeous?! Harvey Montecillo Tolibao (also known as HMT Studios) was hired by Marvel to do some variant covers for the Heroes For Hire series, and he seriously blew my mind with his takes on their “hero” job description. And he’s already worked on some other amazing titles (go read his bio – I’m in awe at all he did) like Emma Frost, Unlimited X-Men, Psylocke, and many, many more. I think I need to check more of his work out. Though I already fell in love with his style in Psylocke.

– Thanks for letting me find these covers, Behance

LEGO Talk

Did you ever think that your little LEGO piece could actually hold a story? A story that only you can tell, because it’s a story that you create. All with one little LEGO piece. Pereira & O’Dell came up with this sweet little ad campaign where they start with their stories, and then you get to make yours. Now, this can send LEGO blocks out into the universe, all with the power of our imagination. I picked the blue one to show you because it has a spaceship, Vikings, and Formula 1 racing. How could I not pick this one?? Thanks for bringing this to us, DesignTaxi.

p.s. If you think that you recognize the name of this team, then it’s because you saw their video, Inside, which was a social experience that involved a girl trapped in a room with only a laptop and an Internet connection.

Book Sculptures Grew By A Few

I was watching BBC World News, when I found out that the incredible collection of book sculptures grew by a few in Edinburgh again. According to the report (and the mysterious artist), there are 10 in all and the final 3 are now found and being shown. I caught the images from Central Stn (where I found the previous story), and they have such incredible detail that you have to look at. Unfortunately, these are the last of the mystery gifts to the literary arts world, and they really are unique treasures made with love. I seriously would love to see these in person! Here’s the finale as covered by the Guardian UK.

Thomas Negovan’s Muses

This gorgeous print is one in a series created by Malleus with some pretty amazing Art Nouveau stylization that seemingly honors Thomas Negovan and his Century Guild art gallery. In addition to being an art curator and historian, he’s also an author and a musician (frontman of Three Years Ghost). Be sure to look at Malleus’ production process of “Angeli e Demoni”, and look at the rest of their beautiful rock art posters (they’ve done a lot of them).

Dracula By Martin Ansin

Is this not a beautiful poster of Dracula? Browsing through the eye candy at Inside the Rock Poster, I came across this image by Martin Ansin and immediately fell in love with the mesmerizing image (or is it Dracula’s gaze?).

Martin’s is a graphic designer based in Uruguay – if you want to find out more then read his interview at Changethethought (there some amazing images there) . His style is definitely a mix of comics meets graphic design, but it’s his coloring that really brings his talent to life. Looking at Dracula above, you know what I mean about powerful strong lines, colors, and shades, and it’s there in every piece that he creates to bring his characters to life. His list of creations runs the gamut of Hollywood creations and its players, and he does an amazing job bringing us into a piece of movie history that just fascinates. Can’t wait to see more of his stuff!

Check out more of Martin’s work at his site. It really is pure inspiration.

Glorious Dawn

Continuing on my search for dreamy images, I stumbled on some amazing work by Fuco Ueda while browsing through I Heart My Art. Her color images are amazingly beautiful, but I am seriously in love with her pencil sketches that captivate your eyes with the strength of her lively characters’ personalities. This is one of her images, Dawn.

She’s also just put out her first art book, Lucid Dreams, which collects her works of art from the past 11 years.

And to learn more about her, check out her interview with The Red Girls who are part of the Tale of Tales’ online horror game, The Path. Watch the trailer (if you haven’t seen this game) to see just how much she inspired them.

Dreamlike

I keep coming up with the word, dreamlike, when I look at the images by Tessar Lo. An Indonesian artist based in Toronto, Tessar has been hard at work for some time, though the biggest compliment he gets (and likes) is when someone asks if he had fun making his works.

When I look at his images, I feel a sense of calm come about, as though they’re trying to say that,”Yes, you did dream that, and it was as amazing as you remember.” This image, Meeting Place, really gives off that feeling of calm longevity that you get when you’re in that twilight state of consciousness and are entering your dreams. His world is one of great color and fantastical images that portray a reality that would be really sweet to be a part of, just like many dreams you’ve probably had.

Go check out his works on his site, and read some of his interviews by Ion Magazine and Erratic Phenomenon for his 2010 show, Everything We Wanted In Our Nostalgic Future. And check out his work on his blog (news section) to see his current creations. They’re pretty wonderful. I mean, how can you not like a man who can look at clouds from his room for inspiration?

– thanks I Heart My Art for finding him
