Beauty In Motion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9VuQdmUJqQ

Note: (added July 17, 2011) I noticed that the NFL took down this video (and I’m assuming many others) due to copyright claims. While I completely understand copyright ownership, these videos serve a purpose as free marketing for you money-hungry corporations. At some point, you’re going to have to decide whether your fans are more important than your profit margins. But I’m not holding my breath! So, I’m leaving the link here as is to show your fans just what you think of them. – A thoroughly disgusted fan who still loves football, and thinks that the NFL needs to learn to play well with others!

I hope that bonemanace doesn’t mind, but I wanted to share this video and give him credit for putting together some incredible footage. Yes, most of you guys out there will think that I’m a fan of Clay Matthews because of his looks and hair. Well, sure, I’m human and have eyes. But it’s not (totally) where his appeal lies with me.

Sports produces some beautiful motions that just leave you breathless. Growing up as a tomboy has fueled my love for movement. My favorite is football, and I’ve always been a fan of the Chicago Bears until I saw this guy playing. While I’m still a fan of the Bears, I’m now a huge fan of No. 52 on the Green Bay Packers. That guy simply is poetry in motion. Ok, maybe not poetry because he’s not at all delicate as prose, but I think you get what I mean. This guy has me glued to the tv whenever he’s on. And off the field, he also sounds pretty incredible as well. I’m pretty sure that if I ever met him, I’d just stand there staring at him speechless. Great things do that to me sometimes. A Mind Boggling Thought

When we look up at the sky during this week and next, there will be humans out there doing their job on a space shuttle and the International Space Station. In outer space. And it’s not a science fiction story, but the reality of how far we’ve come. We are made up of stars, and now we also walk among them. It a brilliant but mind-boggling thought. Boy, do I envy them for the sights that they must be seeing.

Still For Japan

All around the world there are events that are changing people’s lives. Some good, but many horrific. The horrific disaster that occurred in Japan hits close to home because I have family there. Yes, I am an American, but I am also Japanese. I’m also a bit of French, British, Irish, and who knows what else. Perhaps this makes me more aware of what happens worldwide. I wish that I could do more to help those in need around the world. Because there are so many good people out there that desperately need it.

Click on the image above for one small way to lend a minute of stillness for those still suffering in Japan.

Now, if we can all think of something to do for others who are suffering worldwide, just to let them know that there are people behind them who want to reach out with a helping hand. Let’s all do something about it NOW.

The Imaginary Foundation – Something So Sublime

I find artistic endeavors to be so awesome and necessary to life. No matter what type the creation, its creator’s inner voice speaks out with such richness and depth that I feel a trembling inside my body. It’s so intense that I can see the hairs standing up on my arms, and the warmth suffusing my body only generates an absolute feeling of contentment. It must be the atoms and molecules rushing through my bloodstream, telling me that I am truly alive at this very moment in time. What could be more sublime than that?

Well, today, I found something that is doing it again. And when I went to seek more information on this monumental group, I was awed at what I found during my journey: Undivided Mind. This tour started in November 2010, and is currently touring the world as we read. THIS is something that has to be experienced, because I know that the online version is giving me the chills! I want to be immersed in just such a room. Continue reading

Inspiration Comes From Deep Within

Well, this particular posting was created thanks to some confusion caused by one reader’s comments on a previous post. Comments about the loss of the TV series, Rubicon, on the Serenity Rose post had me stumped. I never had the chance to watch the entire series of Rubicon, but I do remember it having the flavor of X-Files and Eagle Eye. And I seriously love these type of shows that make you think while immersing yourself into their storyline. But I was stumped because I’m not getting the connection with Aaron’s graphic novel and Rubicon, unless you compare the dark gloomy atmospheres and anti-establishment leanings. Now, I’m usually all for looking for tenuous connections to enhance the mind game, but I’m simply drawing a blank here. Anyone want to help me out? Continue reading

Geo-Cosmos, Our Beautiful Earth

The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, Japan is currently displaying a remarkable globe consisting of a multitude of organic LEDs. The Tsunagari (meaning: connection) Project uses observation data from worldwide sources to build a view of our planet that we would never see unless it all came together. Now we can see our part within this fragile eco-system without leaving the surface, and perhaps learn to co-exist in ways that need to be pursued for a more cohesive and thoughtful existence. There are four segments to this project that allow for interactivity and more: Geo-Cosmos, Geo-Scope, Geo-Palette, and AuthaGraph.

Go to the official Miraikan Tsunagari website to get detailed information about this timely and necessary project. To have people come together to view “Earth without the center” is simply beautiful.

Thanks for sharing this information, Imprint Weekly!

Farewell to NASA’s Space Shuttle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEHCaZtWCnY

Today’s the day, the last launch from our space shuttle program. I couldn’t bring myself to watch it live because of the sadness that it’s all ending. It’s been a wonderfully stupendous ride with NASA’s dedicated crew. Many have pondered the necessity for such a costly and uncertain program, but my response is “How could we not pursue this opportunity?” Continue reading

Driving Through Open Spaces

Summer is all about traveling. Whether it’s near or far, we all crave the freedom of the open road at some time and summer helps to bring it to reality. Usually, there’s a ton of planning involved, and nearly impossible logistics to overcome. How much do I need to bring? Is there enough music? What’s it going to be like at wherever I’m going? Did I remember to shut off the lights? What did I forget? The trip itself brings out the military precision in everyone who participates. It’s necessary because your stuff is out of reach back at home. Not that we won’t attempt to bring it all with us anyways. It’s our anchor away from home. Continue reading

Amazing New Technology

And now the world has its first…. Chocolate 3D Printer! Scientists in the UK, managed by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), have come up with a new way for manufacturing 3D chocolate designs created in design software. These scientists, led by the University of Exeter’s Dr. Liang Hao, want the world to be able to create what it’s dreamed in its mind through a new medium of chocolate. Of course, it won’t replace those culinary magicians who’ve made chocolate delicacies into a gorgeous and scrumptious art form! Maybe it will even help us to appreciate their genius.
